The Challenge
Doneshia Starling is one of my longest-standing clients, a relationship that began years ago at a brand agency and has continued for three to four years since. When she came back to me, she was ready to rebrand and sharpen her voice around reproductive health education and advocacy for women, men, and families.
The Strategy
We built Simply Pre'fer as her mother brand, spending significant time developing a color palette that reflected a shift from an "excitable" energy to a warmer, more community-rooted feel; a melanin-rich neutral palette of browns, beige, and amber, with her signature soft pink as an accent.
The Execution
From there, the brand grew into a full ecosystem. The Birthing Stool became a ministry-focused sub-brand, its logo built around the literal symbolism of a birthing stool, connecting spiritually to Simply Pre'fer while carrying its own distinct palette. Movement with the Midwife brought her love of dance into the brand through fluid, sensory promotional design. Simplified University gave her advocacy work a home, complete with a course catalog, resource library, and bookstore. I also built her website, managed her email newsletters, and developed the communication systems behind each initiative.
The Outcome
Simply Pre'fer now operates as a full brand ecosystem with multiple connected sub-brands, an educational platform, and an active community — the result of a multi-year strategic partnership.
Reproductive Health Coach & Doula | A brand ecosystem built on education, advocacy, and healing.
"Each of her pieces are uniquely crafted to fit the assignment of the person she is working with... she pays attention to detail, and makes sure to include the character and personality of the person into the project as not to allow the project to be separate of the person it is to speak for."
